Franchising & Trade from October 20 to 23: All the top italian brands will be in Milan
The franchising world pins its hopes on the Milan expo
Franchising & Trade is more international than ever before. The trade fair held at Fieramilano from October 20 to 23 will host the top franchising brands: everything from bookstores and cafés to services, travel and tourism, beauty centers and children’s clothing. Here, then, is a short list of companies that will be appearing in Milan (a complete updated list can be found at the http://franchising.expocts.it website): Autogrill (catering), Aiazzone Mobili (home furniture), Balloide-Photo (aerial photography), Bata (footwear), Magnolia (children’s apparel), American Consulate (public services), CTS Travel Network (travel and tourism), Eni Divisione Gas & Power - Rete in Franchising Assistenza Italgas Più (home maintenance, services for private and corporate clients), Frigerio Viaggi Network (travel and tourism), Giallo Sistemi (awnings), Guisso Haute Couture – Sarafia (women’s apparel), Last Minute Tour (travel and tourism), Lavazza Coffee Shops (café), Mail Boxes Etc. (services for private and corporate clients), Mondatori Franchising (bookstores and newsstands), Poste Italiane (express mail service, shipping, databanks), Preca Brummel (children’s apparel), Kipoint (internet point – express courier), Rai Trade (media/TV), OBJ (men’s apparel), Cokaclub Beautyland (beauty centers and tanning salons). Top brands will be joined by medium and small brands, for a total of 360 exhibitors presenting their products in an exhibition space of 10,000 square meters, which has grown compared to the last excellent edition in 2005. “Such success and high expectations met by exhibitors can be explained by observing the Italian franchising market which, with 46,500 points of sale, is the largest in Europe,” said EXPOCTS General Manager Fabio Majocchi. “It is also one of the most dynamic: the business volume (18.2 billion euros in 2005) is growing steadily (+7.5%) and all indicators have generally recorded a positive balance. The annual report on franchising prepared by Assofranchising revealed a very encouraging trend: an increase in the number of brands (from 708 to 735), a positive balance achieved by 1,911 points of sale, and increased employment (from 117,783 to 120,340 employees, which is a 2.2% increase). Leading the turnover classification are department stores-LDO’s (3.3 billion euros), followed by supermarkets/food stores (2.2 billion euros), men and women’s clothing (1.6 billion euros), travel agencies and tourism (1.3 billion euros), and real estate agents-credit companies (1.3 billion euros).” One example of the dynamism in this sector is the steady expansion of one of the finest childrenswear brands: In April, Preca Brummel inaugurated in Milan its 250th Brums boutique in Europe. In May, it inaugurated its first Brums and Mek outlet in Italy’s first fashion center in Serravalle Scrivia. In June, Brums’ second flagship store in Asia opened in the Ocean Terminal in Hong Kong (Brums has 1,000 points of sale around the globe and an annual production of 5 million garments). Therefore, all the conditions exist for having an expo full of attentive and interested visitors. There were 24,000 visitors last year. This year a huge marketing campaign geared to foreign markets was launched to bring new top buyers and many potential franchisees to Milan. Delegations of investors from India, Singapore, Brazil, USA, Spain, the United Kingdom and Russia, contacted through the foreign offices of Fiera Milano, will arrive to attend the Italian franchising seminars, and thanks to the activities of I Team (direct contacts coordinated by EXPOCTS), delegations representing industry associations from China and India and also individual buyers from India and Hong Kong will also be arriving. Through Infofranchising, delegations coordinated by local associations will be arriving from France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, China, the USA, Greece, Canada and Russia. The Franchising & Trade website has also had numerous hits in recent weeks. In the pre-registration area of the website, which is up and running and will be available for the entire duration of the event, you can fill out a form to directly purchase the discounted admission badge at the reception desk. Visitors who register will also receive by email periodic newsletters with the latest news and useful information for visiting the show, the final calendar of events, and a description of available services. Leading companies come to Franchising & Trade to boost their potential for market development in this dynamic phase. One of the factors that will attract people to the expo is its scheduling at the same time as the first edition of Shop Project, the international triennial exhibition for shop fittings, and the first edition of Wellness World Exhibition, the wellness and fitness show. Both shows, organized by EXPOCTS, were created for merchants who want to develop their business through the adoption of successful ideas and also for the “general” public that wants to start a business and needs more information. Another notable factor is the presence of Confimprese, the non-profit organization and association that has been working with merchants since 1999 to increase customer loyalty through the study and adoption of strategies and attractive, innovative products. Franchising & Trade has also signed an important agreement with BNL, a prestigious partner that focuses on the needs of small and mid-sized companies and is able to provide customized solutions for these customers. The launch of the “BNL Franchising System”, a complete package of products and services designed by the bank for people who want to start a franchising business, is one of the prime elements of this strategy. Thanks to a web-media partner agreement with Infofranchising, a Buyer’s Lounge/Investor Area was created to welcome Italian and international investors, buyer delegations, and VIP guests.
Before the event, Assofranchising has organized the first National Franchising Conference, to be held on September 18 at the Chamber of Commerce at Via Meravigli, 9, in Milan. As explained in the press release, the objective is to create an annual event and useful point of reference for the sector in Italy to define business agreements and, from an institutional perspective, to encourage dialog and constructive exchange between the many public institutions concerning foreign trade, education, welfare, industry, and universities. The 6th Annual Assofranchising Meeting will also be held in the same context. Investor interested in the Italian Franchise Brands ?
